Our Ethos
The staff, children and governors of Montgomery warmly welcome you to our school. We strive to provide an exceptional learning environment underpinned by a nurturing ethos in which every individual blossoms to be the best they can be: pupils feel safe, heard and valued; staff and parents are listened to and respected as partners in each child’s education; and governors hold us to ambitious, supportive account. Learning at Montgomery is purposeful and progressively sequenced so pupils make clear steps in knowledge and skills, are consistently challenged and experience high expectations in a calm, purposeful classroom culture. Our approach is inclusive — recognising the needs of all of our pupils — and is rooted in wellbeing: we actively nurture children’s emotional health so they can thrive, take risks in learning and grow in self‑belief. We celebrate achievement, small and large, so pupils leave proud, resilient and ready to contribute. As Europe’s first zero‑carbon Passivhaus primary, sustainability and stewardship run through our curriculum and community work; pupils develop responsibility through civic projects, the Green Team and opportunities to give back locally. Strong, trusted partnerships with parents, professionals and community organisations extend learning beyond the classroom, ensuring equity of experience and widening horizons through trips, visitors and experiences. Guided by our Monty Values, Montgomery develops confident, articulate, compassionate citizens who care for one another and the world they inherit.
At Montgomery we believe that a happy child is a successful one. We are committed to providing a positive, safe and stimulating environment for children to learn, where everyone is valued. We intend that all children should enjoy their learning, achieve their potential and become independent life-long learners ready to take on the modern world.
We believe that education should take place in a fully inclusive environment with equal opportunities for all and that all children should learn to value religious and cultural differences and celebrate our similarities and differences.
We want Montgomery to be an excellent education community, providing our children with the highest quality teaching and learning, enabling them to make outstanding progress, regardless of their starting point. To ensure we are taking care of the future by teaching our children about sustainability and the impact they can have on the world. We believe in enabling our children to have the skills to be confident, articulate citizens with the knowledge and understanding to improve the planet they inhabit.
Personal development is a high priority at Montgomery, with a rich and varied curriculum to support your child and allow them to blossom and grow. Our school values and British values underpin all we do as a result the pupils at Montgomery love to learn, are respectful, thoughtful and tolerant and become resilient learners and strive to achieve.
We ensure our children are able to acquire a love of learning that will last them for a lifetime. Our children are excited about coming to school and love learning. We want them to be motivated, engaged, and challenged. Most of all, we want children to know that success is in each and every one of them and comes as a result of their own effort. We want to give them the belief that they can improve and learn, and to be delighted and proud of their many achievements.
