Reading

Read your AR book and use this opportunity to read any books on your bookshelf at home you haven’t yet started!

https://www.onceuponapicture.co.uk/ This website has lots of great pictures to inspire writing and has guided reading questions as well.

Write book reviews of stories you’ve read this year (these could be class books or ones you’ve read yourself).

Maths

https://www.mathletics.com/uk/ - Tasks will be assigned based on children’s learning in class.

https://ttrockstars.com Continue to practise your times tables in preparation for the year 4 statutory test.

Practise telling the time at home using both analogue and digital clocks. We will be learning time in the summer term but if you can practise beforehand, this helps us hugely at school.

Some board games you have around the house will involve mathematical strategy/knowledge, for example Scrabble and Battleships. Other games like bingo and Countdown can be great ways to test mathematical knowledge.

Topic

Our science topic this term is Animals Including Humans. Here are some projects that you can do at home:

Teeth

-Keep a food diary to see what types of foods you’re eating while you’re at home.

-Film an advert about looking after your teeth or eating healthily.

- Design and make a board game to encourage children to eat well

Digestive system

-If you have an old plain t-shirt, design the digestive system on the front.

-Create a poster all about the digestive system

-Create a comic strip about a piece of food’s journey from mouth to poo.

Food chains

-We have not yet started looking at food chains however you can research what a food chain is and create your own food chains.

A new IWF (Internet Watch Foundation) safety campaign aims to help parents have conversations with their children about keeping their 'door' closed to child sexual abusers. The campaign includes a booklet for parents, explaining the risks, explaining why children are vulnerable, and suggests practice steps that parents can take. The mnemonic used in the campaign is TALK: TALK to your child about online sexual abuse. Start the conversation – and listen to their concerns. AGREE ground rules about the way you use technology as a family. LEARN about the platforms and apps your child loves. Take an interest in their online life. KNOW how to use tools, apps and settings that can help to keep your child safe online. https://talk.iwf.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/A-guide-for-parents-and-carers-v7.pd f
