Exeter Primary Football League Season

The main event is a central venue league competition, held at a local secondary school, and run by the PE team. The league involves a variety of schools (currently 18 teams from 12 primary's) from around Exeter and the surrounding areas. The league is free to enter for all schools and involves regular football fixtures throughout the school year against other primary schools in your group. This event is open to girls and boys from Years 4,5&6.

The participating teams are split into three groups of up to 8 teams- Group A, B & C. Each team plays against the other teams in their group twice during the normal league season. At the end of the league season, the top three teams from each group are awarded medals and the team at the top of the group table is crowned group champions. In addition, the top 2 teams from each group, plus the highest scoring two 3rd place teams from across all three groups, qualify for the EPFL Champions Cup competition (see below for more details).

EPFL Champions Cup

The EPFL Champions Cup is a knockout cup competition, which takes place once per year after the conclusion of the normal league season. The Champions Cup is an invite only competition where teams must qualify for entry by finishing as the highest scoring top 3 teams in their group as part of the normal EPFL league season.

The 8 teams that qualify for the Champions Cup go into a seeded draw for the quarter final stage. The winner of each quarter final then qualifies for the semi finals, where the subsequent winners qualify for the grand final and the defeated teams play in a 3rd/4th place play off. All teams receive a certificate for taking part in the competition, and the overall winners receive the EPFL Champions Cup Trophy which they get to engrave and keep for 1 year until the next season's final.
