Exeter Consortium is a partnership of schools in Exeter in South West England, established and managed by the schools themselves. It offers an exceptional opportunity to learn to teach in local schools with outstanding providers. The attractive setting of an historic regional capital at the heart of one of the most desirable areas of the country makes this an irresistible location to live and learn in. Our partner training organisations are South West Teacher Training and Bath Spa University both highly regarded by Ofsted.

The well-established excellence in teacher training in Exeter has come from a commitment across our member schools and partners over the years to offer high quality training programmes and a diverse range of really supportive learning environments in our schools. Many years of experience have seen the development of a learning culture in our schools which values, supports and prioritises the needs of trainees and which has produced a consistently high level of outstanding teachers.

There is a mixture of schools and settings in our Consortium, with a range of secondary schools, over 60 primaries, a special school and FE College across the city. The secondary schools are newly rebuilt to a high standard, while Exeter College provides post 16 education across the city. The primaries offer a very wide range of sizes and locations, from small schools of less than 100 pupils up to rolls of more than 600, and from inner-city sites to the urban fringe - and beyond to surrounding small villages. Exeter is relatively compact and trainees can easily engage with all of the schools across the city conveniently, without having to make long journeys.
